Griffin Arts Council, Inc. (“GAC,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an arts organization serving Griffin, Georgia and the surrounding community. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through griffinarts.org (the “Site”) and our related communications, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you.
By using the Site, subscribing to our newsletter, contacting us, or participating in GAC programs and membership, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site or provide us with your information.
Information We Collect
We collect information in a few different ways:
Information you give us directly, such as when you:
- Fill out our contact form (name, email address, and message)
- Subscribe to our newsletter (email address, and optionally your name)
- Apply for or renew a membership, or express interest in becoming a sponsor
- Register for an event, workshop, or program
- Correspond with us by email, phone, or social media
Information collected automatically, such as:
- Standard web log data (IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, referring site, and timestamps), collected through our hosting and analytics tools
- Cookies or similar technologies used by third-party services embedded on the Site (for example, Google Maps on our event pages)
We use Google Analytics only if you choose to accept analytics cookies through the cookie notice on the Site. Google Analytics helps us understand aggregate Site usage; Google may process related information as described in its privacy policy. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Payment and financial information. GAC does not currently process payments directly through the Site. When membership dues, event tickets, or donations can be paid online, they will be handled by a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe, PayPal, or a similar provider). We do not store your full credit card number, and the processor’s own privacy policy will govern how your payment data is handled.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and requests
- Send newsletters, event announcements, and updates about GAC programs (only to those who subscribe or otherwise consent)
- Process membership applications, renewals, and sponsorships
- Register you for events, workshops, and programs, and communicate logistics related to them
- Maintain accurate donor, member, and sponsor records
- Improve the Site, our communications, and our programs
- Comply with applicable legal, tax, and accounting obligations
Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Site and our communications, such as our email/newsletter platform, hosting provider, contact form service, and (in the future) payment processors and membership management tools. These providers are only permitted to use your information to perform services on our behalf.
- Legal and safety purposes, if required to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GAC, our members, or the public.
- Successor organizations, in the event of a merger, reorganization, or transfer of GAC’s operations, subject to the same privacy commitments described here.
We may share aggregated or de-identified information (that does not identify you) for reporting, grant applications, or promotional purposes.
Children’s Privacy
Some GAC programs are designed for youth and young adults. When a program requires information about a minor, we collect it from and communicate with the minor’s parent or guardian, who provides consent on the minor’s behalf. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental involvement.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining membership and donor records for accounting and tax purposes, and for as long as required by applicable law. You may request that we delete your information as described below, subject to any records we are required to retain.
Your Choices
- Newsletter: You may unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every email we send, or by contacting us directly.
- Access, correction, or deletion: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity before making changes.
- Communication preferences: You can ask us to limit the types of communications you receive from GAC (for example, event announcements but not fundraising appeals).
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
The Site may contain links to third-party websites (such as our sponsors, ticketing partners, or social media pages) and embedded content (such as Google Maps on event pages). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
As GAC introduces new features, such as online membership signup, event ticketing, or donation processing, we will update this Privacy Policy to reflect those changes and update the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be posted here, and where appropriate, communicated directly to newsletter subscribers and members.
